The Brief

Daylight food and lifestyle photography for a bright, open-air brunch café.

The work is built around the shared table: takeaway boxes opened between friends, dishes ringed around white marble, colour arriving as beetroot and turmeric.

The Approach

Most food is photographed in soft light, as an apology.

Sakura goes the other way and stands in the sun. Marble goes white, shadows go hard-edged, and a kraft box opens on the table with sandwiches ranked in it like a set of keys, rocket and one red tomato marking the place. The colour is cooked in rather than styled on: beetroot drawn across a plate in magenta, turmeric folded into an omelette, egg broken warm over a flatbread. Hands keep entering the frame from every side, which is the honest shape of a Gulf breakfast, where nothing is ordered for one person.

01

Creative Direction

Midday daylight kept hard rather than softened, white marble as the ground, and the shared table as the recurring set.

02

Food Photography

Plated dishes and takeaway boxes shot from above, with the colour coming out of the food itself.

Lifestyle Photography

The table in use rather than styled: plates read mid-meal, dishes passed between people.
